Dry VS. Dehydrated Skin: Whats the Difference?
What is Dry Skin?
A skin type that is usually genetic
- Lacks oil/ sebum under active sebaceous glands
- Feels tight, flaky, can be itchy and feel sensitive to certain products
- What is Dehydrated Skin?
- A skin condition that is treatable
- Lacks water
Looks dull
- Can affect any skin type
How to tell the difference:
If you gentle pinch the skin and the skin takes a few seconds to bounce back into place it is ypically dehydrated, if it bounces back immediately it is likely dryness.
Treatments and Products:
To treat dry skin you would want to use thicker/ richer face moisturizers and barrier repairing products. To treat dehydrated skin you want to make sure you are hydrating the body from within (drinking a lot of water and using electrolytes) and also using a water based moisturizing product as well as a hyaluronic acid.
